Product Overview:
One of the most beautiful advantages of eastern white cedar is that it contains
no dark tannins like other wood species, which can discolour over time.
This makes our Eastern White Cedar shingles shingles the perfect canvas for any colour. Each shingle is coated with Cabot® solid stain to fully protect it on all faces.
Select Grade ('B' Clear) is a standard grade Eastern White Cedar shingle that can be used for roofs or for cladding exterior walls. This product has no imperfections on the exposed face (lower 150mm) of the shingle. Select Grade Eastern White Cedar shingles have a great appearance and offer good value for money. They are fine grained and are light to pale brown in colour.
For the energy-wise, white cedar has a unique cell structure that traps tiny pockets of air to boost insulation and reduce home heating costs. Eastern white cedar is popular with craftsmen because it can be easily worked by hand or with power tools. It also has exceptional dimensional stability. It lays flat, stays straight and retains fasteners. It has an even grain, fine texture and the lowest density of any commercial domestic wood.
Our Eastern White Cedar shingles are cut with stellite-tipped saws to ensure precise cuts and minimise raised grain. They are then resquared and rebutted. Resquared means that they are cut parallel which saves time on installation as it eliminates the need for trimming. Rebutted means they are trimmed at the butt to provide smoother, smarter ends and create an impeccable final finish. They are then kiln-dried for greater stability and durability.
Dimensions may vary due to kiln-drying.
